Minnesota Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Project – MnAMP
Lake Superior College (LSC) has received funding to aid in reducing the ‘job skills gap’ for local manufacturing employers. Local businesses have a growing demand for employees in manufacturing and welding. These are for good paying jobs in high tech environments. The Workforce and the Community Development office at LSC, using funding from the Minnesota Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (MnAMP) is the link to training for those jobs. Nationally recognized MSSC, AWS, CPT, and other credentials benefit grant program participants in their job search or pursuit of a promotion. Training is designed to provide credit for prior learning to students or incumbent workers who choose to pursue college degrees.
LSC currently has a significant collaboration with local businesses training hundreds of incumbent workers. MnAMP funds support curriculum development, equipment and supply purchases, LSC provides instructors, with the training delivered on site during work hours, with pay increases upon completion.
